Can't afford IVF now what?

I've had 3 failed IUIs and can't afford IVF so now I'm at a loss. Anyone else in the same boat? We will continue trying naturally, but our hopes aren't very high.

Do you have insurance that would cover additional testing for you? Maybe that would provide some answers as to what other options you may have beyond IVF.

Have you applied for a loan? Some banks give personal/medical loans, it may have a high APR but it's a start. We are just using credit cards, did not like the "shady" medical loan website offer. It is like buying a car, or two, so it's a big purchase that is too much just to "try".

I hope you find some financial resources so you can have a successful IVF, good luck, take care

Hi ladies, I'm in Australia, just wandering how much ivf actually costs in the USA ? We are pretty lucky here we have afew options some very expensive - private clinics cost $10000-$15000, or we can go through our Medicare ( government funded) where we have a choice to pay $5000 & get refunded around $4500 or we can pay $1450 & get $500 refunded, hope u find a way to pay for your dream baby xxx

Have you asked about Natural IVF? Its about half the price of Stimmed IVF and has great results.

we have done IVF twice now ( both successful)

the first time we went to bank and got a personal loan. i think the loan was for about $10,000-$11,000.

this time we took a loan from hubbys 401k at work (where you pay yourself back) this was in sept '11, then while doing taxes this year learned that this was first yr they were allowing people to write off IVF expences!! that was awesome!!

Have you looked into egg sharing? that can significantly reduce the cost of IVF.

good luck!!!

Our fertility clinic has an arrangement with a local financial institution - all you need to do is bring a copy of a letter from the FS detailing cost of treatment and there's no problem getting a loan. No idea what the interest rates are but it's great to know the option is there. Might be worth checking if your clinic has a similar arrangement?

Wow that's great that your government is so supportive! I'm in Ireland and none of our insurance companies cover fertility treatments but the government will pay for all the medications involved, we just pay an excess of 130 per couple. I think that's a fairly new development but it definitely helps. IVF here is about 3750, ICSI 4250, neither of those include any of the blood tests (the karyotyping is so expensive!) or blastocyte development which is an extra 800. This is such an expensive time!
