Anyone Had 3+ Failed Cycles of IVF and Moved to Donor Eggs?

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on here in a while and I apologise if there is a similar thread elsewhere but I am just in so much despair as today I got a on my third and, probably final cycle with my own eggs.

My hubby and I feel that an egg donor would be our only hope and we have a review appointment with our clinic on 19 June. I am just doing a little research into this option and just wandering if any ladies on here have moved to DE and if you have offer me any advice/feedback.

Our clinic has a satelite link with a IVI Allicante as they say it has fantastic success rates. Has anyone any experience of this clinic?

Thanks in advance xxx

So sorry about your 3rd cycle. x

Are you looking at donor eggs because the clinic are saying it's definitely an egg quality issue? I have seen many stories of ladies having success with donor eggs from younger women.

I wish you all the luck xx

Not sure if it is an egg quality issue yet, but on the second failed cycle they suspect it was. I will know more at my review appointment.

I have looked into the DE route and it seems to have much better success rates and alot of the ladies say DE was a godsend and they have never looked back. I personally feel it is a more viable option and they may suggest it due to my age.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do xx

Hi Katherine, we did 8 full cycles never any frosties. I always produced a decent number of eggs but half we're always immature so we only ever had 2 to put back and the quality wasn't great. After my chemical we went down the immunes route which showed some minor issues but nothing major. I went to Serum in Athens and did one last OE cycle which failed and Penny advised that DE would be the next step.

I felt we'd spent enough and done enough cycles to know this was the next step so we went back to Serum and I had 3 blasts put back and 3 frozen. Ism now just coming up to 12 weeks pregnant with one baby and I honestly wish we'd have gone down the DE route earlier. Saying that though it's a personal choice and only you can decide if you are ready.

Good luck with your decision xxxx

Hope this helps....

I, also, have low AMH. After many unsuccessful IUI's and IVF's, we were told we had less than a 5% chance of conceiving with my eggs. We thought about donor eggs and decided it was our best chance. My husband had a harder time with the decision than I did. LOL However, we went for it. The donor produced 14 eggs....of which 9 fertilized. We put two embryos back on day 5 (and 7 more were forzen). We became pregnant the very first time! We just celebrated two 1-year olds birthday a few weeks ago. We had boy/girl twins. I have to say as it got closer and closer to delivery I started worrying so much that I wouldn't feel that love or that bond. It really kept me up at night. But I can honestly say it was the best decision we ever made. There is no possible way I could love those two babies anymore than I do. They are MY children. I rarely even think about it anymore. My advice to you would be to go for it!! You will NEVER regret it. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck!

Thank you so much Wanting a Child, that really does help! and congratfulations on the birth of your twins.

I have been reading stories both here and on other forums whereby ladies have used donor eggs and never looked back, and the fact that it is not genetically their child doesnt seem to affect any of these ladies, in fact one said "I dont know why we are all so in love with our own DNA".

I have a review appointment on 2 July and my consultant emailed me to set it up. He asked if I have any holidays planned this year and my answer to that is yes, hopefully to Spain to start the DE process! I just hope he doesnt try to persuade me to have another cycle with my own eggs as Iam just not confident! I think if he does, I will try another clinic. Myself and my DH just cant afford to throw good money away after bad on cycles that just arent working.

Thanks so much for your inspirational story and enjoy mummyhood xxx
