Any Unicorns w/ PCOS and successful IUI out there?

Hi all,

Just looking to see if anyone has an unicornuate uterus, pcos, and had a successful IUI. Or, if you have a uterine anomaly of any kind and also pcos and tried IUI...were you successful?

I'm 13dpiui today. They didn't check my follicle on the day of the iui so it's slightly possible that I ovulated a day later, making me either 12 or 13dpo today. Besides the tests I took too early that showed the trigger shot, I've had bfns up to today.

I'm on progesterone and estrogen suppositories because my lining was thin before the iui and my mid-luteal progesterone was a *little* low (it measured at 8 which isn't bad but isn't great).

So, long backstory, but just wondering if it's worth going for a second try at an iui or if DH and I should just start considering and planning for IVF.

Thanks for your input ladies. This was my first iui and I've waited WAY too long to finally be here, so the seemingly more prevalent possibility of a failed cycle is starting to really get me down. Plus, all the hormones I'm on are making me an emotional mess.

My uterus is ok just my cervix is full of scare tissue and tilted severely. I just did n IUI yesterday and am waiting to see if after 2 years its all we needed.

How did your's go? If it did not take I would do a second IUI. Are you on any ovulation meds? I am on clomid 3-7 with O on cd 15 or 16. It was 15 this cycle.

Hi Ftale...thanks for joining me. Unfortunately my first IUI didn't take.

Right now I'm waiting for my next cycle to start. They had me on both estrogen and progesterone, so AF will be about 10 days late regardless. Waiting for those meds to get out of my system.

I took Femara CD5-9 and then I had to take the hcg trigger shot. I'll be rooting for you Ftale! The TWW was absolutely awful for me because I really didn't know what to expect from it. If they put you on progesterone, my advice is try not to symptom spot because it's impossible to tell the difference between the two unless you've been pregnant before and can sense subtle differences. I would also highly advise you not to test until at least 12dpiui because if you had trigger than hpts can pick up the "fake" hcg for up to 10 days later. I took one at 8dpo and then every day after and was super excited to see a positive on 8dpo (really, one that strong was highly improbable on only 8dpo). I realized that it stayed in my system until 10dpo. Every woman is different though. I've read that the smaller you are the longer it takes to get out of your system.

Either way, I really hope it works for you!

I'm recovering from the Clomid. when my ovaries release the eggs oh my gosh I had so much free fluid/blood in my stomach that my stomach still aches and I ovulated Saturday. I'm hoping it released eggs and not just exploded cyst or something. I did not do a trigger shot since I seem to release the eggs on my own I just don't create very many on my own and I don't know the quality of them.

What day do you think you'll be ovulating this next cycle and will you be doing femara 5 -9 again? Or do it earlier?

Well, AF showed up today, so cd5 will be this Friday. That would put me at ovulating sometime between the 19th and 21st. It just depends on how my ovaries take to the drugs this go around.

I'm sorry. And I totally get waiting to see how your ovaries will take to meds. Will you get a scan to check for cysts?

I'm seriously worried mine are swollen with some nasty cysts on them. I won't know till my next OB appt. I'm changing my regular ob so by the time my first appt. shows it'll be test time.

Yeah, I have to get a cyst check ultrasound before they'll allow me to take the meds because the meds can feed cysts and cause ovaries to rupture...pretty big deal. Anyway, considering that AF is in full swing and I didn't have any cysts at the start of last cycle, it's pretty unlikely that I'll have any cysts this cycle. Apparently, they usually resolve themselves by the start of new cycles. FX for you that you don't have any cysts! And good luck with a new ob.

Thank you. I had quite an ordeal with a blood filled cyst and a functional one. Each ovary was being held capture for at least 3 cycles. It wasn't until I took metformin for a month then switched to Myo-Inositol that they desolved. Not really sure which one it was.
I usually start taking the latter at 11dpo if tests are bfn. I think you can take it the whole cycle though. I'm just weird like that.

Well, if AF must be here for you, I'm glad it's in full swing. Get a really clean start to a new cycle. Praying you don't have any cyst either. And FX you do IUI again this time with a bfp!

Ftale those cysts sound miserable! I'll be thinking about you and praying that you get to have a normal cycle full of hope and success!
