We had 4 fertilise, of those 2 were implanted and the other 2 weren't suitable for freezing

I am now pregnant with the one that implanted

Don't worry about the 5, all you need is one to implant xxx

We got 7 this time and after 100% fertilisation last time, I was shocked when told only 2 embryos. 2 were immature and 3 fertilised abnormally. Don't find out till next week results but had 2 ok-good quality transferred on day 2. I appreciate it's disappointing but you will have a few to choos best and that's the point. How did they get on today? Did they tell you more about the abnormal? I'd never heard of it and it really scared me!x

Wow, great ET! Grade 8 & 6 are really good! It is disappointing when you first hear the news. I had 13 eggs and only 5 fertilized normally. I was upset at first but now I am happy I have a few to choose from. No frosties I'm sure.

Hi Marie-were some of yours abnormal? I had never heard of this before and was shocked when they told me! We are unexplained so wondering if it has something to do with it x

They didn't use the word abnormal for ours, just 2 were small and undeveloped I think they said. The other 5 embies are hopefully developing ok but who knows. I think abnormal could be so many things, how they fertilize, how they divide and sometimes chromosomal issues. It's all so confusing. Did they tell you any specifics on yours?

Well we had 7 but 2 were immature (too small like yours) this is common and nothing to worry about-I think it just means they weren't ready. Then 3 were abnormal and had 3 chromosomes instead of 2. They said it could be sperm or egg issue or just that 2 sperm got into those eggs which is bad luck. We are unexplained so if it gets us closer to figuring out what's going on it helps I suppose but just scared me! Last ivf we had all fertilise and they were all normal x

I've heard of that where in 1 IVF all fertilize normally and another IVF there are abnormalities. Hopefully there are no issues with you. If the 2 sperm are fertilizing the egg at the same time, they could do ICSI like we had where they only inject 1 into each egg and that would prevent any problems with double fertilization. I saw a woman a few months on here who was only 32 I think and had 11 embryos, 9 with extra chromosomes & they transferred the 2 good ones & she got pg. I don't know why it happens. It sounds like you're starting to get answers now though. GL! I know being unexplained is very difficult.
