Help needed please :)

Hi everyone

After a long time ttc, all appropriate tests and SA etc my dr has referred us to the fertility clinic.

She told us it will take about 18 weeks to get an appointment at the clinic and that after that, we are good candidates for ICSI. I am a one tuber and my DH has reduced sperm with low morph.

My dr hasn't really told me anything else, I know what ICSI is as I've googled it, but was wondering if anyone can just give me a bit of info as to what will be happening and how long it takes from having first consultation to getting some treatment done, and what is involved?

I've read through a lot of threads but there is a lot of lingo I'm not quite getting All I know/think I know is they take an egg from me and some sperm from him and then put it back!! I'm sure it's more involved than that!! Will I have to take hormones/if so for how long?

Thanks ladies, I hope you can help

Hi hun, hope you are ok, it is a lot to take in when yuor on this ttc rollercoaster.

Im currenlty in my two week wait after having icsi. Its where they exrat your egg and inject it with your hubby's sperm, also to be honest they say you have a higher chance of fertilisation if you have icsi then just ivf.

With waiting times, it just depends where you are in the country , if your private your nhs. If yuo go private you can pretty much get seen straight away. NHS depends on your area. We come under east of england , we were referred by gp in July, then had to see a consultant at hospital in september, she then referred us to ivf clinic and we started treatment with them in february, so all in all about 7 months, but i know it varies.

yes you do have to take hormones, first stage is down regulation, then you take stimmulation drugs, so prob about 4 to 5 weeks of drugs, just depends on your cycle and what clinic advise.

i hope ive helped a bit, feel free to ask any other questions. Good luck with it all hun, i know how hard it is , especially the waiting, you just wanna get started.

Thank you so much for replying. It's all very confusing. You're right, I basically want it to happen as quickly as possible, 18 weeks is a long time to wait, but we have waited a long time so far, maybe I'll get my bfp while I'm waiting, I've heard this happens!

I just hope when we finally get seen we can get going straight away, I'm so impatient, and not getting any younger-I'll be 32 soon and hubby 36 I know the older you get the less the chances are.

I wish you the very best of luck in your 2ww it must be torture for you, I know how the waiting feels. Praying we all get our bfp soon
