First IUI and lots of bleeding/spotting in 2WW

I had my first IUI 11 days ago and since 6dpo i have had brown spotting on and off. I even had two lots of short bleeding where i needed a liner, once at 6dpo and again at 10dpo. They were only for a few minutes and didnt seem to have a proper flow. I am on progesterone pessaries 1 x 200mg every night from 4dpo and my 7dpo prog level was 42 nmol/l (14ng/m) so i dont think I have low progesterone to cause the spotting/bleeding. Has anone else experienced this while on progesterone? My FS hasnt explained why this has happened.

Hi Katie! I just did my first IUI this weekend and started progesterone last night. I think I heard that it can make you spot a bit, but it might be worth a call to your FS to see what's up. Good luck!!!

I've only been taking the progesterone suppositories since last night, so no spotting yet...I'm sure I read online that spotting is a side affect, but I would definitely check with your FS just for peace of mind.

How have you found taking the progesterone suppositories? My doctor told me they would be really "messy" and read on here that panty liners are a must with these things, but I have not had any leakage as of yet. I'm still trying to figure out how such a small pellet creates this so-called mess, but perhaps I'll find out soon!!

My SIL went through 4 rounds of IUI before she had my niece, so I guess it's up to us to stay patient and optimistic. Spotting in early pregnancy is normal too I believe, so maybe what you are going through is a good sign. I guess you'll be able to test in a few days . Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!

Mine are messy when they melt but they usually don't cause that much mess...I just wear a liner in case. My FS also said they cause alot of mess so was expecting the worse. I don't like using them coz they feel pretty gross. Thanks for sharing ur story bout ur SIL, I hope it only takes me max 4 cycles to conceive too.

Altho I like the fact that they can delay AF so if I think I will ov on a Friday the next month I take 1 extra night of prog (when I've gotten lots of bfns so know I am not pregnant) so I will ov on a sat and makes iui easier when it falls on the weekend

Katie, that's good to know. I was just looking at my calendar and wondering if I will be lucky enough to O on a weekend again next month should we need to do another round of IUI. I'm starting a new job in two weeks, and don't exactly want to ask for time off to visit a fertility clinic.
How soon does AF show up after you stop taking the progesterone suppositories?

Usually get AF within 1-2 days but my first month it was 2.5 days after stopping prog. It's hard to predict and I've heard for some women prog does not delay AF.
