Lily definitely has this. She has very obvious extra creases on both thighs. I haven't thought anything of it until now either. I've been quite worried about the fact that she doesn't ever seem to straighten her legs though.... I mean she CAN do it if I force them into the position but she doesn't do it herself. I mentioned to HV that her legs are still very bent up towards her tummy, like a newborn, and she said she'll keep an eye on this for the next few weeks to see if they loosen up. X
My LO had/still has an extra crease. She was checked by the paediatric physio and had an x-ray when she was about 3 months old-she didn't have clicky hips but it was done as a precaution as she was a breech baby/delivery.
The crease is still there but she hasn't had any problems with crawling or walking.
If you are worried, I'd get it checked again just to put your mind at rest. x
ETA-Erin's was an unequal crease, rather than just an extra fat roll.
Thanks, I think I will point it out to the hv when I next take her to weigh in and see if she thinks it's worth seeing the dr for.
Seeing as she's already had a hip ultrasound I'm not really sure what else they would do anyway? When she straightens her legs out they're the same length etc which they say is another sign so that seems ok.
Hoping it's just one leg is chubbier than the other!
An extra crease is a sign of hip abnormalities. It is NOT a marker though. I did the U/S clinic for baby hips and maybe only 1 a list, with the extra crease, had a problem. I should add though that there were other factors too not just the crease. If you're worried see your HV or your GP. Boo has one and she's fine
