Swollen cheek, bright red, red hot - couple of questions
OH noticed it first. Gabbi had a red cheek this morning, but it went really swollen, more noticeable when she was sat up. He left cheek seemed to be hanging lower, bright red and hot, very hot. Now I know that when babies are teething, they get red cheeks, but can their cheeks get swollen too??? Could it be something else? Is sucking gums part of teething too?
I was going to take a photo but she's having a nap on the settee and can't really see it now. I'll see how it is later.
She's just had a sleep for 3/4 hour, kept dummy in the whole time, which doesn't happen very often at all, her cheek is not hot anymore and is not as swollen. Could it all go as quick as that?? Her temp is fine.
She's funny, if I pull her bottom lip down to look at her gums, she sticks her tongue out!! I have to make her laugh to have a quick peek inside!
i would say it sounds like teething, when Ewan got his top teeth his cheeks got really hot and broke out in a rash, which like turned into big sore dry patchs. i just put moisturiser (E45) on when it got dry. took a couple of days to clear up.
my son never got really red / swollen cheeks but when they did get a bit pink it usually went away in an afternoon or so , maybe the nap gave the gums a rest from chewing on stuff ? then i guess the swelling would go down.
i kniow what you mean about having to make them laugh to get a look , my son just recently had his first 4 molars come through and to see the top ones i have to tilt him back til hes almost upside down then make him laugh, lol.
