They probably are, but it's still annoying! Probably the same people who ask:

"So when are you two going to get around to having kids?"
"Are you going to have more?"
"When are you getting married?"

Etc. And mean well, but don't understand why those questions can be a total minefield.

It wouldn't be as annoying if they didn't try to then fix what they see as a problem.....

I always wished I had a onesie made, "if my mommy wants your opinion, she'll ask you for it"

my LO does sttn and i still hate this question.

they say "oh you're so lucky!" "that's amazing!" and of course i'm not upset by him sttn! but i hate the thought that he would be considered a "difficult" baby if he didn't

I hateeee when people ask me this question because whenever I say 'no, she wakes around 3 times a night' they give me the most shocked look and make me feel like my baby is abnormal! Nowadays I always add 'but it doesn't bother me in the slightest, I'm fine with it, I just get on with it', trying to defuse the situation before they start telling me what I need to do to get her to STTN! My MIL's family were shocked she still doesn't STTN, I find it's the older generation who've had children who are the most shocked by babies not STTN. How on earth did so many babies STTN back then?! My mil was saying that by this age my husband was STTN 12 hours and my LO was going to bed too late. I just want to scream that I do not care if my LO wakes up! I just go with the flow, if it doesn't bother me then why does it bother them?! I've been up 3 times a night for so long now I would probably wake up anyway even if LO did STTN
