>:( kinda peed off about something *long*

I get Lylah weighed once a month now, and today was the day.
Last weigh in she was at the 50th centile after a big jump (due to starting solids etc)
She was weighed again and the weigh in lady (who insists on calling my baby LAYLA everytime) asked if I wanted to speak to the Hv, I said yes please. The Hv came over with my book, and pointed to the plotted line graph and said '' not to worry look, she is on the 50th centile'' Since I mentioned I was worried about her weight gain. She then told me Lylah was 17lb 15oz and perfect.
I asked a few questions regarding feeding and then I left.

It wasn't til I got home and realised that her new weight hadnt even been plotted on the graph, and the one she was talking about was her previous weight a month ago... so all the '' she is a perfect weight'' was a bunch of crap. Then while on the phone to Helen1234 I realised that Lylah is infact on the 91st centile.

Im kinda mad! I went there for advice on my babies weight etc, to be told its ok, when really its not because someone forgot to plot her weight on the graph, I should have noticed earlier! It wasnt til I noticed that the weight was above the 22nd week of age that I realised that they hadnt done anything! So She is now way above the average line. Im trying to phone them back but there is no answer, I just want advice. My baby does not eat or drink alot and seems to be gaining very fast, im concerned there could be some kind of problem, which could have been pointed out earlier if someone had done their job right.

When Lylah was born, she weighed 6lb 3 and half oz..
Now at 6 months she is almost 18lb
she has over taken babies born much bigger than her, born around the same time she was born, and even over taken babies a month or two or even 3 ahead of her.

I know there are babies on here on the 91st centile +, thats not why im concerned, its because for her previous weight and how small she was to start with, i'm just not sure its right to gain as quickly as she has been.
Most babies in that centile were born bigger.

Birth weight 6lb 3 and half oz- 7-9th centile
a month ago-15lb 13oz 50th centile
today- 17lb 15oz- 91st centile.

Did someone screw up or is this right?

Edit- someone did screw it up, I did lol. She is on the 75th centile.. but its still a big leap.

They can change quite a bit at different levels of development. Lylah used to be breastfed but is now bottlefed so that may have had an impact, she's weaning now too and getting to the stage where she'll be starting to move about so they build up a bit of weight in preparation for that and she probably will hardly put any weight on for the 1st few weeks of starting to crawl.

Leave a message on HV answerphone and she'll ring you back. There's hardly ever anyone in the office during the day as they'll be out on visits and doing clinics etc. Mine usually ring back at the end of the day or 1st thing in the morning when they get into the office again if it's not an emergency.

don't panic, on the pics and video's I've seen of her, she seems absolutely perfect....so stop fretting

is it worrying you most cos she's a 1lb heavier than rhys and he were 3lb heavier than lylah at birth and they only have 6 days between them or is it cos she's gone higher than the 50th centile,
dont worry bout rhys he's never been a big eater so put weight on slow.
and dont worry i think alot of 6 months babies gain alot around now and then when they start crawling and getting more active, they'll level out, i think she looks fine anyway i think she's just going to be a tall child, you like 7ft and so is you oh
dont worry

Nah its because of the centile thing. Jumping from 50th to 91 within 4 weeks its a huge leap. And im kinda upset they missed it. If she saw the plotted graph im sure she would have some better advice for me other than the usual.
Thankyou for your replies
I just wanna rule out any potential problems. She obviously has a crap metabolism. Like her mother haha!
xx

don't worry hun. She looks healthy and is not acting strange or feeling ill, so i think everything is on par.

I met a lady whose 9 month was 25lbs and in 18-25mth clothing!!!

She said that the hardest part about being a parent to him was him growing as fast as he did and them not being able to adjust as quickly as he grew.

All babies are different and grow at different paces, lylah is perfect and growing at her own pace.

Alexander is in the 50th percentile in weight and always has been and his girlfriends have all surpassed him in percentile ranges and I was a touch bit worried but I know he is gaining and not losing and am ok with it becase I know all bb's are different.

They should be made aware of their mistake tho, as you would probably not be worrying if they knew she was in the 91st percentile and said to you it was fine.

Erin was on the 9th percentile and just about 4weeks later she was on the 50th....I noticed the thicko woman (not HV or nursery nurse, some other "helper") had plotted her at the wrong age as well as nudging the weight higher than it actually was too

She's still on the 9th percentile....tiny doll, just like her Mummy

I would be peed off, if the stupid women who weighs baby's did it right you could of got better advice (btw I think you should start calling her a random name, I hate it when people call Kaysie Katie no matter how many times I correct them). Keep ringing and leaving messages, I don't think there is any problems but you need reassurance and that is what a hv is for

rofl:

i'd ring her and ask her what she thinks again, if rhys doesnt put a bit more weight on by the next time i go i'll be worrying too, s i think we all worry at some point. she's healthy and she doesnt look fat to me, just normal.

you about 5ft 9 arent you?
