My lo didn't wear shoes until she was ready to walk outside.
Even now I only put them in to go out as I feel bare feet are best as much as possible.
Having said that I also go barefoot as much as possible.
While she's learning to walk its actually better for her to have bare feet as being able to use her toes will help her balance. A reputable shoe shop wouldn't sell you first shoes (for everyday use) until she was walking on her own. And even then, I'd probably only use them when going out the house.
Babies don't need shoes until walking confidently outside. They benefit a lot more from bare feet.
Saying that, since Quinn has started walking she either wears socks with grippy bits or Inch Blue type slipper shoes as we have wooden floors.
I won't be getting her real shoes for a long time yet.
