Umbilical cord, when does it fall off?

So i was under the impression it should fall off by 2 weeks. He's almost 3 weeks old and it hasn't fell off yet. It started bleeding a little here and there over the last week, and his dr said that meant it was starting to separate but it's still hanging on.
I put alcohol on it 6-8 times a day so i figured it would had fell off by now...

When did your lo's fall off?

I'm ready to give him a regular bath rather then a table bath that he screams through.

My Lo's fell off at 6 days. If its gooey I'd prob be taking him to see the doctor again - but that's just from my experience where it dried up very quickly and then fell off shortly after.

My children's cords all fell of around 3 weeks. Some even close to 4 weeks. I don't know why?! Drs all said it was normal though.

I don't understand though why you can't give your baby a proper bath? Even in hospital our babies are all given a full-on bath. We just don't fill the bath to the extend that the umbilical cord would be soaked.
