Infant carrier Vs. Convertible carseat?

Looking for some options on wither an infant carrier is worth the money? I really hate carrying them around so have been tossing around the idea of just going straight to a convertible? Pros/Cons?

We did convertible with my oldest and hated it when they were a newborn. It's nice to have a base in the car and get them in the car seat in the house and just snap it in. If they fall asleep in the car you can snap it out and let them continue to sleep without disturbing them. It's even better if it snaps in a stroller! We got a car seat that goes to 30-35 pounds, so it will last longer. It does suck having to buy a second car seat later, but it's just more convenient when they are so small to have a car seat. We plan on getting another diono radiant rxt when LO outgrown his car seat. My daughter has one and it's good up to 120 pounds and has a 10 yr lifespan. By a year LO will be able to sit in it comfortably.

I like not having to unbuckle him since he generally sleeps in the car. I think I'd get tired of strapping a newborn in and out all the time and my carrier just snaps onto the stroller so I can leave him be and do what I need to do. Once he is too big we will get a convertible but he will have more control to comfortably sit at that point.

We have infant carrier - clips onto pushchair chassis and I have a 3 door car so getting him unstrapped is a nightmare easier to take whole seat out. I only leave seat in the car if we go to doctors. I only have to carry him from my house to car so it's like a 5 second walkxx

We have both... Here's why

I had an infant carrier... Emmy got old enough to go into the main bit of her pushchair so I sold it and bought a convertible seat

That's in my hubby's car... I don't drive... My friend came to take us out and I suddenly realised I didn't have a seat for her car, or if I got a taxi anywhere, or if my mum takes her for the day!

I didn't realise how much I needed it till it was gone and ended up buying another >.<
