one step forward, two steps back re: feeding at night

My lo was beginning to go for 5-6 hours at night e.g. 10:30pm to 3-4am but has gone backwards lately.

For e.g last night, I feed him at 12, then at 3am then at 5:30, then at 8am this morn- why is he going backwards??? Im at the end of my tether. I put him in his cot, but in my room a couple of nights ago as hes grown too big for his moses basket, could this be it??? Or something else?? Surely a 3 month old should now be going longer at night time, i dont klnow what to do

That sounds almost exactly what i'm doing with Billie at the moment... and she's 9 months!!! We had a good couple of months where she'd only wake once in the night but now its 2 or 3 times. I blame... teething, growth spurts, colds and general cheeky monkeyness. It could be the change of moving to a big cot but it won't take long for him to get used to it x

We had 2 good nights where Rose only got up once. I thought we had cracked it, i was soooo happy! But of course she is back to her old ways now

Dont babies have a growth spurt around 3 months? That could be the reason.

Not sure what Roses excuse is though as She was Prem and does not usually follow the expected growth spurts!

I wish i had an answer but im in the same boat. Joshua had been going 8-9 hrs at night since 8 week but this last 10 days he's been waking 2-3 times! Im shattered as im not used to it.

Hv said it may be a growth spurt. Lets hope it doesnt last too long!

I'm in exactly the same boat. Soooooo frustrating. By him getting 5 hours then i got a good chunk of sleep in too and didn't mind waking. Now he wakes every 2-3 hours. It wouldn't be so bad if he ate a lot but he has 5 mins and goes back to sleep. His nappy is always heavy so can't fault him for waking but how do you stop them weeing?!!! What happens to you when they wake up?

same here, dex used to sleep 8-9 hours or more then he hit three ish months and that stopped. I put it down to a growth spurt, then learning to crawl, teething etc but not he has learned to crawl I cant blame it on that. He is a pee monster though and he hates a wet nappy. also when he wakes he is very hungry and defo eats and wont sleep until i change his nappy. In your case it could be a growth spurt though or just that he is a baby (like most others) who wake at night. I even take him to bed with me and it is stil the same so I know it isn't because he is missing me. In fact sometimes he wakes because he wants putting back in his cot.

this may be a stupid question but what do you dress him in at night? Have you considered he may be too cold (or hot) as he isnt waking for a feed with the weather change he may be getting chilly or maybe you have added to many layers. Last night I decided to dress dex in less and he slept for loads longer than usual. the one night i dressed him in a really thick sleepsuit he woke 4 times in 3 hours.

Not stupid at all, I was wondering if it was temperature related. Currently he has been sleeping in a sleepsuit, a sleeping bag (1 Tog I think), then two blankets on top

The baby monitor says it is 18/19 degrees in his room

i put mine in a sleep suit and a sleep bag in his cot, when he wakes, he has been genuinely hungry and takes his milk. maybe hes not having enough during the day but when i try and give him more (he has 6 and a half oz at each feed) he doesbt want more. xx
