I was wondering if anyone has used aloe vera juice for gastric reflux before?
I was thinking about it but all the ones I could find said not to give to infants. I used to work in a health shop so I phoned the manager and her daughter uses it for her twins. She'd actually phoned the manafacturers and they told her it was safe to give one drop for each month of their age.
So I started giving it to Chaise and it has worked wonders! He was on ranitidine and infant gaviscon but still extremly distressed and could never manage more than a 6 ounce bottle. Within a few days he went straight to downing 8 hours and sleeping a hour extra at night.
Apparently it puts a protective coating on the stomach and helps to heal erosions caused by the reflux.
Hi Angel2Fire, I haven't used this but my LO appears to be suffering from reflux and every meal time is a nightmare at the moment, he can't really manage more than a couple of ounces at a time and so only goes about 2 hours max between feeds. It's really, really wearing me down.
We have been trying infant gaviscon but it doesn't seem to be making any difference at the moment - how long should it take to work?
How is that aloe vera juice working for you now you've been trying it for a couple of days?
