5month old waking in the night - wide awake!

Hi, Lexi had been a really good sleeper until the last couple of weeks.

She has now started waking again, normally between 4 and 5am for a bottle. We did try settling her again without the bottle but she is draining it. She would finish the bottle and go back to sleep which was great.

However, the last week or so, she is taking the bottle then staying awake for another hour or hour and half! Its hard work, she is chatting away or just tossing and turning on us.

We have tried putting her back in the cot but she knocks her dummy out then chews her hand ending up with a pool of dribble in the cot so then we need to change her and the cot so that wakes her up even more!!

Help! Any suggestions why she is doing this? Is it just a phase? She is still fully FF and not weaned at all. I want to wait till she is 6 months before we wean.

It could well be a phase, apparently it's common for 3-5 month olds to randomly start waking in the night.
If it's hunger then I would try and fit another bottle into the day so she's less hungry at night. Do you give a dreamfeed?

hey sorry your having such a hard time, but I know how you feel. My lil one went through this for about a week straight where she would wake for her bottle, finish it and not go back to sleep for about 2 hours..

she is currently teething and when this started we niticed 2 slits in her bottom gum, so I am wondering if it's from teething or not..

She has not done it the past few nights, but she has gone from splits to white dots on her gums...

hope your LO settles for you soon i know its not fun

Skye x

Noahs been doing this too and we tried everything we could think of. He's just begun to settle again bit it went on for a month so was very tiring. In the end he was spitting his millk out too so we just had to get and down all night unfortunately. But it does get better, last week he was awake for hours chatting, this week, just stiiring for his dummy. And I don't think its anything we did, just a phase.

Good luck I know its hard! Xx

Harriet wakes 2-3times a night still...and shes also teething which makes it difficult, kind of makes me feel bad that everyone elses babys sleep through or have done, and Harriet never has. I feel like im doing something wrong!

Thanks for everyone's post, it helps to know we aren't alone doesn't it!

Ok, so last night Lexi decided to wake up at 1am! Its getting earlier! She wasn't crying, just chattering away. I decided to leave her in bed unless she cried, thinking she would cry if she needed something ie bottle or change etc

After about 10 mins she started crying a little so I went through, put her dummy back in....and she then slept through till 7.30!!

So, hard as it was, we are going to try the same again tonight. Hopefully it is just a case of 'ignoring' her unless she cries to signal she needs something. We'll see!

Good luck to everyone else, will let you know xx
