Guideparent asking poem (sort of) honest opinions wanted

We're having a welcome party for my daughter this weekend which will be like a Christening but none religious.
I've written a poem and stolen a part from Pinterest to give to the people we want to be Ruby's guideparents (eg godparents without the god).
What do you think? I don't want it to be painfully cheesy

"I need an extra pair of hands, to help me learn and grow.
I think yours would be the best, because Mummy and Daddy told me so.
Help me through life and to be the best I can be.
I want you there to celebrate when I succeed and to help pick me up when I fail.
Watch me take the path of life and help lead me when I lose my way.
As I grow up I could be anything and become anyone but with you there to guide me I know I'll be happy.

Will you be my guideparent?"

Before I put this onto a card or something I wanted your opinions please.

I agree, not cheesy at all and a lovely thing to say to a guideparent.
