New mum with sleep questions!

Hi,

I have finally made it over from the third tri and our beautiful little man Stanley was born 8 days ago... he is soooo lovely - but confusing.

I'm wondering about his sleeping... we're kind of following his lead with feeding, changing and sleeping and doing it when he wants it. But today he has been unsettled all day - for the first week he has slept all day and then been unsettled and grizzly from about 11pm to 4am... he's always slept the day. But today he just seems to doze and then something appears to be waking him... but I don't know what???

It's just like he's uncomfortable or something... he's fed, and clean, and planty warm enough.... any ideas??

Thank you

Congrats on your new baby boy

Could it be that he is too warm/have wind or just needing a cuddle

xx

Hi there,

I had my baby boy Derrin on the 23rd November and have had a few instances like you described. I found it to be one of two things. He was either to warm or just wanted cuddles. Have now bought thermometers for house so that i can keep an eye on exacty how hot it is.

Am having a bad night tonight though as he is waking up every hour. He goes back down quickly but i am exhausted.

Violet was like that for the first few nights and it was because she was too hot. We'd been dressing her like we did in the hospital, but it was just too much for home.

Try feeling the back of his neck just below the collar to see how hot he is, rather than touching cheeks or forehead etc.

And like Claire mentioned, could be wind or a bit of colic? Colic didn't start with us until after a good week home.

i'd guess wind 2...they tend to get trapped wind alot more under 3 months. feel ur LOs tummy and if its all hard and bloated then its wind.

or it could just be the more aware of things he's is getting the more things wake him?...altho he's still quite young 4 that. kians ability to slep through things/ sleep anywhere really changed the older he got. once upon a time he could sleep on me while i talked really loudly but these days he's a much lighter sleeper and he wont sleep on me anymore!

congrats on ur LO...hope u get to the bottom of it soon
