Ideas for Messy Play

We've started doing messy play

I wanted to do it ages ago but waited until Chaise could fully sit up. What I do is sit him in an empty toddler paddling pool on the floor, and I tipped a bowl of Jelly in with him. He LOVED it. He managed to move onto his front so he was swimming in it!

I could do with some ideas for more stuff to put in the pool. So far I thought:

Cornflour and water
Pieces of fruit (orange, apple, pineapple)
baked beans

Then less messy stuff like:

Scraps of tissue paper
a toilet roll
building blocks

I've decided against playdough as its too salty, and things like pasta spirals incase he chokes.

It's really not as messy as you'd imagine as he goes in the bath straight after and the pool is only small so I wash it out in the bath after us

But yeah I'd love some more ideas, and experiences of what other peoples LO's have enjoyed playing with

Ooooo I love the idea of squirty cream and custard!

I'm not too keen on stuff they can't eat, chaise puts everything in his mouth, and I know some paint is non toxic but I would still worry a lot. Plus Chaise is only 6 months but I will do paint when hes older

Thanks for all the ideas
