Leaving Baby Outside

We have been staying with my mum for the last week, being spoiled but every day we fell out over the following issue....

she thinks that my wee girl should be left outside in her pram at every opportunity...my first reasoning that this isn't on was about cats/insects getting into the pram...she bought a cat net...i didn't like the fact that i couln't hear if she was crying...she opened window...you get the idea.

I just don't like it. She thinks it better for the baby and i am depriving her if she is not in fresh air....

Mayb that is how it was done in her day but i don't feel comfy doing it, she thinks i am bneing stupid and is asking everyone what they think...all her friends agree with her...

Opinions please....

I think this is a really old fashioned thing to do, put your baby at the bottom of the garden!
I've never understood why this was done in the old days!!

I don't know why it used to be done, but to this day, I love nothing better than a nap outside under a shady tree if it's warm! Must be a throw back to baby hood!
I have been guilty of doing it, but only if we've been out and the baby has fallen asleep in the pram/pushchair. I usually just let them nap and sit on the grass next to them and do a bit of reading!

Im sorry but no.

You dont have a baby so you can just leave them sat in a garden while we drink tea.

They are human beings and should be treated like them.

There is a NSPCC ad and a little boy sat in his buggy in the cold and not a soul in sight, its heartbreaking.

Babies get fresh air everyday, whethers its from going for a walk or letting them play in the garden.

Your Mum clearly has a different way of parenting than you and she should really respect your feelings.

"back in the day" you could leave the house open and go out, leave your kids to play all day nowhere in sight and be safe etc etc.

People steal from washing lines these days ffs, theres no way i would leave my baby out in the garden unattended what with all the weirdos and nutters in the world today - guess this could be fine if you have a totally secure garden, but i dont!

Well i have a very secure back garden, nobody can get in it and i have put Daisy and Eden out on the decking in their prams when they have had naps in the afternoon and the weather is hot!

I think it is in Sweden that the nurseries put babies outside to sleep no matter what the weather! Infact i went for an interview at a nursery where the babies slept outside in big coach prams. Its supposed to be really good for their health to sleep in the fresh air.

Actually Eden is asleep now in her pram sitting by the patio doors with them wide open

I dont think i would leave my baby outside all day either to be honest. I might do for 10mins if i know i was going back out there and could hear if they started to cry but i wouldnt just put them out there.

lol i like what the postman said. I'v never even seen mine!
