Just a question & I'd like some input.
Eleanor is now nearly 3 months, and she's still feeding every 2 and a half to 3 hours (she's fully breastfed). During the night she used to sleep for 9 hours straight, now it's anywhere between 5 & 7 before she'll go down again for a couple of naps. She usually sleeps between 12 & 15 hours during the night (I know, a fair bit more than the 10 she's supposed to)
When at the health visitors yesterday she asked how often Eleanor feeds and mentioned that it should be about every 4 hours now. Erm, surely I should just feed when she wants and for how long she wants? Especially in this hot weather now I'm not particularly comfortable leaving her longer if she doesn't want to. Mind you, she didn't say I had to ... just made the passing comment it should be around every 4 hours by now.
So the question is, how often does/did your 3 month old feed?
Helen is six months and feeds 2.5-3 hourly during the day. At 3 months I was lucky to get 2 hours between feeds. Occasionally she will go 4 hours + but only if we are out and about. At night she goes 7:30-3-4 am so I reckon she needs plenty milk during the day. I'd love to have a 4 hour baby but I don't and I don't think it's uncommon at all. As long as you and LO are happy I think you're doing fine!
I FF and Ava only goes 2-2.5 hours between feeds during the day, and thats on hungry baby milk! Not sure about BF sorry as unfortunately, it didn't happen for us but I think that sounds about right! As long as you and baby are happy
Alex is bottlefed and has 5 x 6oz bottles in 24 hours. We've got him on a 4 hour routine. Afraid I don't know how you'd be able to tell how much they're taking at each breast feed though to then be able to space it out to 4 hours? x
My baby is every 2 hours occasionally he'll go 2.5 - 3 hours. The most he goes at night is one 4 hour block then it's back to every 2 hours for the rest of the night.
That sounds very similar to Flora. Sometimes in the day its even more like 1.5 hours . Not that she's 3 months yet, but I also wanted to say that I think the idea that 'she should be doing 4 hours by now' is pretty out-dated, especially considering she's exclusively breastfed.
