Bumbo seat questions

My OH is concerned that LO bumbo seat will confuse him when it comes to potty training as they look so alike.
Has anyone else ever had problems with this or is there enough gap between using the seat and starting potty training for it to not be a problem.

Also it says that these seats can be used up to 12 months problem is Brian is only 3 months, he sits in it fine but his legs are chubby and get caught when taking him out and I cant imagine him fitting in it at 6 months let alone 12.
Are others finding this or do I just have a chubby thighed baby (nothing else on him is chubby just his legs)

Anna is my first so I have no previous experience, sorry.

Anna has chunky thighs too and sometimes getting her out is tricky-she is 5 months- I dont think she will get that much fatter around the middle over the following months - I believe they will grow in length more??

It won't confuse him. By the time he's ready for potty training he won't even remember his Bumbo, but that being said, the Bumbo is good for getting 'em to poop! Something about the position they sit in makes it just right to encourage things to get moving.

As for whether you could use it up to 12 months, I'm not sure. It's kind of flexible so it would probably mould around his legs some, but to be honest I can't see Ronan being interested in his much past 6-7 months before he wants to be more mobile. I figure once he can sit unassisted he can just sit in his high chair.

I just twiged on that about 20 seconds after posting once hes sitting up himself he wont need it so it will be gone long before hes 12 months

My LO managed to get out of his about two weeks after we got it. Luckily I was sitting right next to him and caught him so he didn't hurt himself. He is not too chubby so had quite a lot of wriggle room. Anyway once he was able to sit up confidently by himself he had absolutely zero interest in the bumbo seat. I just posted about it on the 'most useless things I bought for baby' thread as we really got so little use out of it.

We have gotten a lot of use out of ours, but we have a very chubby thighed baby too, lol. When we try to pick him up out of it it usually comes off the ground with him! I think that once he gets sitting up cracked he won't have much interest in it.

As for potty training, I wouldn't worry about it. Like hivechild said, he won't remember it by the time he potty trains!

I'd heard so many people say that babies either love it or hate it that I got mine 2nd hand. I didn't want to pay full price for it. It's also bright yellow which I thought was cool since it's not a colour I saw available new!
