How much is your 5 month old napping?

How many naps and for how long should a (nearly) 5 month old be having? Harrison has 3 half hour naps a day and then goes to bed around 9pm. Each nap lasts 30 minites exactly - is that even any good?? Sometimes its only 2 naps and sometimes he'll only nap for 10 minites! So in total he's napping half hour to 1.5 hours a day and around 10-11 hours all together at night. An average of 12 hours sleep every 24 hours. Im worried that's not enough? And for selfish reasons - I'm not getting much done during these cat naps!
xx

My baby boy us 6 days older than yours, and he has 3 or 4 naps a day, each one between half an hour and one hour (mostly half hour!). He sleeps 12 or 13 hours a night. So they sound similar! He goes down around 8pm and wakes up around 9am. Sometimes he wakes around 6, but it's just a matter of putting the dummy in.

I will be keeing an eye on this thread also, it's interesting to see if our babies are similar to others, ESP when it's your first and u hope ur doin it right!

May I ask what other things your baby is doing? There was a thread on here a while ago asking what peoples 4 month olds were doing, but I didn't reply as everyone elses baby seemed to be doing more than mine! He smiles a lot, laughs and giggles when we play with him. He can roll on to his side but not right over! He can stand up very strongly on his legs when supported. He also doesn't reach for toys yet which I am a little concerned about!

He drinks five 7 oz bottles a day.

I put him down awake all the time. Mostly he will self settle, but maybe once a day it's a crying session for ten mins with me constantly putting the dummy on. He sometimes really fights his sleep!

Sorry for the essay, and i know all babies are different, but just wondering how this compares to ur baby!

Their sleeping pattern does sound similar though Harrison naps less and isn't sleeping through! He goes 9pm til 3 or 4am then stays awake for about an hour then goes back down until 8.30am or so.

He's drinking 4 or 5 bottles a day and he's drinking between 4 and 6 ozs from each bottle - an average of 5 ozs on each bottle. He's also started having a bit of baby porridge in the mornings which he really enjoys. On average he's having around 26 ozs of milk in a 24 hour period plus 4 or so baby spoonfuls of porridge.

He can roll over onto his front and lift his head clear of the ground for a good while and has been doing this for a couple of weeks - he can roll onto his other side but he can't completely roll onto his tummy from that side.

He smiles a lot and chuckles, he silent laughs and babbles and screeches.

He is holding onto toys and shaking them around and putting them in his mouth. He grabs my hair and my necklace.

He stands strongly on his legs. He's close to sitting unaided. When he rolls onto his front he tries to crawl but ends up going round in circles.

He can blow raspberries, he loves peek-a-boo and if his bottles weren't so heavy he'd be holding them LOL.

All babies progress at different rates - don't be worried. I wish my bubs would sleep 12/13 hours at night though

xx

Finley also has half-hour naps, usually every 1.5-2hrs too. He has 3 or 4 naps a day, depending on what time we get up and what else we've done that day. I was putting him to bed at 6:30 but am aiming more for 7:30 now....he still wakes on average 3 times a night after his first initial stretch of 4-5hrs, he'll go straight back to sleep after a feed [trying to phase this out but I always crack and just feed him!]

I didn't think it was enough either as he used to nap for 45 mins to an hour at a time, but he seems happy enough. Sounds like Harrison is doing really well too

Naomi is 2 weeks older than Harrison and has always been a cat napper too! She usually has a feed then a play then a snooze of no more than 45 mins. Sometimes if she is tired after a feed and i put her straight down she will sleep for longer. She drinks 7oz from a bottle twice a day and the rest are BF.

She has a bottle at 7:30pm and will wake once maybe twice for a BF then is up around 6:30ish

My son used to sleep ALL the time but Naomi seems to be hitting milestones earlier than he did.

Elle naps about 3 hrs a day (3 x 1hr) and sleeps from 7.30-5- 8 so about 15 hours sleep. She drinks 4-5 x 7oz bottles throughout day. She won't really roll very often, only from back to side/front, never from front to back. She is strong on her legs abd reaches out for toys. She can also sit unaided, sat for around 20 mins yesterday before toppling which is longest yet. She is a big girl and weighs about 18lbs x

Laila is almost 5 months, she'll wake about 6-7am for a bottle then have another hour or so then she'll have a play, we get up about 9. She'll then go down at either 12 or 1 depending what time she woke and have half an hour give or take a few mins. Then around half 4-5 she'll have another hour and then she goes to bed about 9pm.

Oliver is 5 and a half months old. depending on when he wakes up, he gets at least 2 naps of 2 hours each a day, but sometimes gets some catnaps in there as well, and goes down between 7 and 7:15pm.
