Blimey ladies! You lot are brave! It's 8 months since I had Alex and we haven't gone there at all! I had a second degree tear with loads of swelling & stitches, bled for about 6 weeks, and am petrified of "doing it".

Apart from all the post-birth stuff, aren't you all knackered from the night feeds - sex was the last thing on my mind !!?? xxx

I've DTD once in the almost four months Kenny has been born because it was so terrible for me. Still I waited about 10 weeks to have sex. I personally wouldn't. Your body went through a serious surgery and even though you may feel fine you're not completely healed yet.

considering a c-sec is major abdominal sugery i wouldnt be wanting to upset the healing of it tbh

i waited 6 wks both times after both vaginal births one with episiotomy and stiches and the other with a 3rd degree tear and deep internal stiches and even now 6 months on i have to be careful caus the scar feels tight sometimes

I also had a C-Section 11 days ago, and am waiting a bit for the following reason:

When the placenta detaches from the uterus, it leaves a wound which is one of the reasons you bleed after childbirth. Therefore having sex or using tampons prior to proper healing could introduce an infection.

Once my bleeding stops (it almost has) I will assess how I feel about being intimate with my OH and go from there.

I had a C-section and waited two weeks. My hormones were going crazy and I could not help myself. I made my DH wear protection because even that soon after birth I was afraid of getting pregnant and I figured it was a bit more sanitary. We went really slow, and there were no complications from DTD. My advice would be to listen to your body, if it hurts at all stop.

Wow you guys are rampant lol!

I read the average wait is 3 months but any time after about 2 weeks is fine. 2 weeks is how long it takes for the cervix to fully close and so the risk of infection is much reduced.

edited to say i waited longer than 3 months and now feel like an evil wife.....ha ha
