Apparently the dr I saw the other day was an idiot. I went to the clinic for a throat infection as my family dr doesn't work weekends. Due to medication allergies, I was prescribed a certain antibiotic which I was told will get into the breast milk. I was advised not to breast feed while taking this medication (10 days).
My milk supply has been running low for the past week and a half and I was looking forward to getting domperidome to help increase my milk supply, but the dr said that most likely by the time I'm done with the medication, I'll be dried up.
I was really upset at this. I want to keep BF. I don't want to quit after 6 weeks.
Well, anyways, today I had a dr's appt with my GP so she could check out my c-section incision and when I told her about my lack of milk supply, the medication I was taking and what the other dr said, she looked at my throat and said that it's a load of bull. I don't have a throat infection so the meds are pointless. She said that there is a cold going around that swells up your throat for a few days before the cold really kicks in, then the swelling goes away.
She prescribed me the domperidome, so within a few days, my milk supply will be back up and running! Yay!!!
