I agree with the others that have said that it is just as safe in the front as it is the back as long as the airbag has been disabled. Sweeden are about 30 years ahead of us in car safety, carseat.se is an excellent site and i will be getting my Extended rear facing car seat from there xxx
I've also heard the front passenger seat is just as safe.
I contacted carseat.se for advice regarding extended rear facing - I have a small car and won't be buying a bigger one until next year so if I need to go up a car seat then it would have to go in the front passenger seat xx
max used to go in the back all the time, but now he's so heavy (and i have injured my shoulder) to struggle into the back (we have a 2 door car) so most of the time he's in the front with me , we dont have airbags. or if OH is with me he'll go in the back coz OH can lift him into the seat easier
Ruby has always been in the back, now we have an ERF seat that stays in the car anyway and can't be moved without a big fuss.
If we had a two door car I may have considered using the front seat with the airbag off (very simple to do so in my car) when we had the infant carrier. It must be a bit awkward to strap in an infant carrier into the back of a 2 door car without iso fix.
