Late developers thread - share your experience

Hi all,

I dont know if anyone feels the same but I feel really crap atm as the boys are real lazy boys lol - they dont sit or crawl yet and I wondered if anyone else has a late developer and wants to share experience/advice/milestones

Anyway - sam is CHUNKY monkey 91st percentile and sooo laid back its unreal. he can stand very well for ages with support but has no interest in tummy time or sitting - I am just welling up as he is rolling around in front of me which is VERY VERY NEW. fynn isnt a crawler but rolls around at speed and again very confident on his feet.

I am sooo wanting Sam to be better by the end of october or the HV wants to refer him to a paedatrician AARRGGHHH

I have been doing baby boot camp for the last week and both can sit unaided when put there but they dont do it themselves
Anway anyone else want to share?

I know what it means to worry. Saying that, your boys sound fine to me, I'm sure they're just enjoying taking the world in. My sister's little one started sitting and crawling at the same time, so maybe that's what your two will do? It's surely a really good sign they enjoy standing.

While my little man is crawling and pulling up on things, but he STILL isn't babbling (he communicates mainly via 'oooh's and 'aaah's). Recently he's managing something like a smothered-sounding 'b' but no reduplication of consonant sounds, e.g. ba ba ba. I'm worrying

My 3rd was very very lazy.. had my older 2 to get everything for her plus i baby'd her too much if she made a lil noise once put down on the floor for tummy time ide pick her up she didnt sit/crawl or even roll over until wellllllllllllllll past 9months. i was so concerned i took her to clinic and the HV told me she'd do it when she was ready. Her talking however was amazing.. she's always been a real good talker. she says so much for her age. Still everyone continued to comment on how she couldnt/wouldnt walk/crawl/roll this went on forever .. she sat at about 9 and half months.. crawled at about 13 months and walked at 15months.. She did get there. now she's 17months walking/talking/running/dancing/jumping etc etc like a pro.. no one would have ever guessed she was later than others to get it all. and while my sisters LO is 4months older than my LO and walked at 10months.. My lil girls speech is alot more advanced than hers. It will all come together when they're ready.. I never ever pushed my LO i let her take it in her own pace.

Although my youngest (6months) has suffered from her 'tummy time problem' from being tiny i have left him down for a few minutes even if he did make a little fuss. and now he loves being down he's rolling/pulling body forward/rocking on all fours.. the lot!

Dont worry hun they'll do it all when they're ready!

I know how you feel. With the physical milestones I think that Daisy is a little slow and it always seems like everyone elses baby can do all these things that she can't. There are lots of things she can do (social and emotional sort of milestones) that my friends babies can't but I feel that it is so easy to get hung up on what she isn't doing. She had a big umbilical hernia and refused to be on her tummy at all until it healed at 5 months so then she was slow at rolling and crawling as she'd never spent time on her tummy. She has just started to crawl this week after trying hard for about 2 months and I am so, so proud of her .

i get so confused with what she should be doing and some babys seem so well advanced. Kacey could roll both ways at 6 months. She can sit unaided now for ages. But cant get to siting up.however she is trying. Was really worried bout her babbling but she started today yipee. She is starting to rock on her hands and knees.is that a crawling sign? She can stand surported. My hv said that all babys reach at different stages. I love this site but i feel worried sometimes that kace should be doing more. I love how 1 minute babys cant do it and the next they can. Meant to say she is 7 months

Anna will be 9 months next week and no signs of an attempt at crawling at all. However she has been 'talking' using consonants etc bladlabadrding, saying mum, mama, dada since around 6 months so I think she will be an early talker - her newest is brrrr brrrr like a telephone

Izzy never really rolled, and crawling at the end of 9 months- really strange she made no attempt to, didnt get on hands and knees etc, but then suddenly one day she just crawled! just like that! i was flabbergasted!!!! Shes not walking yet, and i think it will be a while, but i am not too bothered. She seems to be more developed on her understanding of things and communication- for example she will grab my pen and find the notepad to draw on! and she has worked out how to communicate with us by shaking her head etc
