okay just what the title says how often should a newborn poop? my LO is 9 days old and didnt poop at all yesterday. has me a little worried about her maybe being constipated. i called the after hours care at my pediatrcians office last night just to make sure everything was good and they said baby could go 2-3 days without going but that just doesnt seem right to me. we have an appt today so i will def. be asking her regular doctor was just wondering what you ladies have been told or know.
I've also been told newborns can go days without having a poo. I however noticed my LO was getting extremely uncomfortable at times during the day. It really did feel like he was trying to have a poo, but was unable to. Eventually after a few days when he had a bowel movement, it was extremely hard and pellet like. I was told he was indeed constipated and was told to offer him water with a little bit of pruine juice.
Having said this, it doesnt mean that your LO is constipated. It really is normal for them to go days without a poo at the start. xx
thank you. that makes me feel a little better. it just seemed weird to me because she had been going at least once a day and then all of a sudden nothing. she was extremely fussy yesterday but so far seems perfectly content today. i guess i will just wait it out and see. but will def. be asking her doctor about it.
