I've noticed mine gets hot in the mei tai, too. I live in a very hot climate so I don't know if I'll be able to wear him in the heat. It's already 32 degrees here.

ETA I don't wear a hijabi as I'm not Muslim, but my LO gets really hot in the mei tai so that's why I replied.

Yeh I'm kind of hoping we don't have a hot summer... sorry everyone! Lol. I'm totally in love with baby wearing now and don't want the weather to stop me but have a feeling it might

how about skirts with shirts? (hehe :P) or stretchy tops?

would you consider tying your scarf behind your neck?

What material is your scarf made from? If its cotton then he souldent get too hot with it near his face

Definately stick with cotton like Lozzy says and light colours....no black to avoid the heat.
But if the weather predicted for this weekend is anything to go by then i think this summers gonna be a scorcher.

...but khir inshAllah

Not a hijabi wearer, but have you thought about a pouch or ring sling? LO can either sit on your hip or you can scoot him around to the front like a Mei tai. There is much less material so your both less likely to get hot.

Don't worry hun, millions of African women wear the hijab AND their babies in the scorching heat. Usually a ring sling or kanga-style on the back, OR kangaroo style which is probably easiest. I would do kangaroo in a wrap/ring sling because then he can still grab your scarf if he wants but he isn't totally underneath it, then switch to the front for BF. I would recommend checking out thebabywearer.com and look at the traditional wearing section.

She's not wearing a hijab but here's an example of a kangaroo style (the baby on her hip, damn this woman is pro, she has 2!) with scarf clothing on.
