Does eating pineapple really work??

Hi ladies,

I'm going to be 38 weeks on Thurs with my first LO and am desperate to get him out!!

How many of you ate pineapple and had labour start soon after? How much do you eat? Does pineapple juice have the same effect?

Thanks xxx

Apparently you have to eat about 8 a day or something stupid. I tried it though (only one small packet!) along with curry, and a couple of attempts at sex!

Hope it happens soon for you, bet this hot weather is uncomfortable x

You need to eat 8 and make sure you eat the core too () but IMHO it doesn't work at all. I tried everything that everyone told me and was still 15 days late after induction! Baby will come when baby is ready, sorry!

Eat the core! Eeeewwwww.

I tried it-3 whole ones a day. I tried clary sage in the bath from 38 weeks, I tried perineal massage from 30 weeks. Went into labour at 39 weeks. Waters broke at 6.30am and nothing by 2pm. Went for a vietnamese hot dish and went into labour at 3pm. Was 6cm by 6pm.

Lord knows whether any of it actually made a difference or was just coincidental.

Cherish these last few weeks because you will have no time at all to rest after! The next time round i wont be in so much of a hurry!

As the others have said you have to eat 8 in a day, which if anything will just give you a sore mouth and the squits.

As hard as it is LO will come when he/she is ready and we just have to play the waiting game. x

If you ate enough it would cause gastric irritation which can bring on labour (same principle as caster oil, but less aggressive)
But no, you'd have to eat SO much so it doesn't work!

Do you know what the best thing I done was, gentle long walks!

I took the dog out everyday and the further I walked the stronger my contractions got, they died down after an hour once I got home, and I went 14 days late and failed an induction and had C section instead BUT that was the only thing that got a semi result lol

oh and I lost my plug DTD

Haha, I used to buy about 2 a day, it did nothing for me! Although my pushing stage was really quick even though I had an epi, so maybe...........

You do need to eat the core as well - I had two (and a burning mouth - ouch!!!) and went for a two hour walk round Sainsburys on the basis that I could lean on the trolley! Next day I went into labour. I think it's the walking! Good luck though!
