Baby scared of vacuum cleaner

Is anyone else's baby scared of the vacuum cleaner? My babs is 8 months old and since she was 5 months old she's always screamed when it goes on. I can only do the hoovering when she's not in the room. She's also petrified of my hairdryer...bless.

I started a thread on this one...shes terrified, you turn it on, she jumps then her little mouth turns upside down and the crying starts! i now don't hoover that often!!
She also has the same reaction to hand dryers, but not hair dryers!

I have a 4 year old son who is still afraid of the hoover, perhaps its just a man thing with him

It was always the noise with him he didn't like, he has never really liked any kind of loud noise, he is quite laid back.

Aymen must be odd, if he's crying and i switch the hoover on, he's instantly quiet!!!

I sometimes just switch it on for some peace

my lo is ok with it but only if I put it on the quiet setting - if I turn it up to maximum suction she starts to sob!

Yep we have that problem, although recently it doesn't even have to be switched on. If he sees it he looks terrified and cries. We can't hoover if he is in the house - so it's once a week for us while the other one takes him out.
He's also scared of hairdryers, hand dryers, lawn mowers - anything that makes noise really.
