Is she OFSTED registered? If so she should definatley be providing all those things and should be providing Early Years Foundation Stage?!

Even if she isn't ofsted registered, surely she should provide the entertainment and learning tools for your child?!

xx

that is a bit wrong! Ellie starts her childminders in a few weeks and we don't have to provide anything at all - if your childminder is willing to look after your LO she should have the equipment and resources to do it.

If it was me I definitely wouldn't buy anything - with the bottles, I'd sterilises them all before I went, fill them up with water and provide the milk separate or send your LO with ready made cartons.

And everything else she would need to supply.. Even if she went to a toy library and hired a bunch of things and swapped them each time she returned them.

Thats shocking!! To me that's like a nursery asking you to buy those things. She should be OFSTED registered so should definately have those things!

I thought maybe it was an arrangement with someone she knew rather than a registered CM. Also I didn't know if all CM's had to be OFSTED registered or whether they only had to be register for the child care vouchers Although actually now you mention it, I think I remember reading something about this arrangements not being allowed anymore? Even if it's mummy friends alternating child care as a favour for eachother?

Anywho, like I said above, I think (and so does everyone else it seems!) that she should be providing all the toys for your LO for fun and educational purposes!

I wouldn't have that! What if she takes in another baby, Will she ask their parent to provide one too? I don't think so!

I do think the child minder is taking the piddle a bit but if you really want to stick with what and who you know and she wont provide them, have a look on ebay you can get bouncers and swings for like 10% of RRP easily!! xx

You defanatly don't need to provide things like that for ur lo, that her responsibility I would say you should only provide milk, nappies, cream ect not toys or things for ur lo to sit in x

Thanks ladies..She is OFSTED registered shes just got a good rating. The dilemma I have is I know I can trust her shes looked after my younger cousins for 16 years and she is fantastic just doesnt seem to want to provide the equipment which I think is wrong. I didnt have this problem with ds1 as he went to a nursery. Just going to have to scour preloved ebay etc to try and pick them up cheap I think.

Really appreciate everyones reponses xxx
