How many words can your 10 month old say?

Hi, I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how many words their 10 month old can say? Amy can say some, but tends to want to squeal a lot and I am not sure she is saying as many as she should and she does not say them that clearly all the time.

Do I speak to my Health Visitor, she said she was not coming again until Amy is 2, should I phone her? Mind you I will see her cause of new bubs . . .but not for a while yet! Is it too soon to worry about her speech?

Any help would be welcomed, as I am a tad confuddled. Thanks.

I dont know for certain but a friend of mines little boy only just started speaking and he is 2. HV told me at 8 months - 1 year baby should be copying noises that you make (like da-da, ma-ma etc) but not actually know what they mean, if that makes sense?

Hope thats a bit more reassuring for you hun

Aaron "says" sounds like dada, baba, nana, mumum, oodah, etc. He also squeals, babbles and makes all kinds of other sounds.

Babies usually say their first proper word at about a year old, but of course all babies vary. It sounds like you've got nothing at all to worry about though!

I know the feeling, Amy will go through fazes of saying mama, then fazes of saying dada, but hasn't said either for a few days.
