Sitting up...how many months?

When do babies usually sit on their own? (with NO assistance at all)

Ava is now 6 months, and she still isn't really sitting on her own, she has the muscle strength to sit but she just gets to interested in her toes and dives , she also throws herself back if she is not interested in sitting at that time...

When do babies usually sit on their own?

What age did your baby sit up on their own?

How do you teach them to sit on their own? Propping her up just doesn't work, she never stays put!

my LO just started doing it for 30 secoonds-1 min and hes getting better and better at correcting himself when he looses balance
pic from yesterday..

so id imagine in a month or so he should be doing it properly for long periods of times.
saying that hes behind in rolling etc

I dont think its anything to worry about unless they get to like 9 months and still arent sitting,Owen was 5 months when he sat unaided to play like without cushions and stuff around him.

My LO does the same & dives at her feet...
Or throws heself backwards.
I know she can do it.
She will happily do it if shes on my lap infront of the telly but if theres toys or she sees her feet then its a no no..
Shes 6months.
Xx

Millicent could sit propped up at 20 weeks, then at 21 weeks holding her feet for support, 22 weeks she was sat up for ages playing with toys etc. At 20 weeks i would sit behind her or sit her against my legs x

Nicole- What a cute baby boy!!! omg... see Ava won't sit but she can roll and army crawl as I would like to call it...

Kaybea- Yea Ava can sit against me no problem, even against the couch, but as soon as she see's her feet its over she tries to get them, One day she will learn I guess.. Nice to know im not alone lol. I started getting a bit worried, she can roll and has hit all the other milestones, but not sitting up lol!

They say online. - bumbo- helps them gain the strength, but Ava is so tall if she throws herself back she can pretty much slip out of it, depending on the force she throws herself back at. She is a tough little cookie! So we don't use the bumbo often, as its a game of - how to get out-

Coralie just started sitting last Monday, so 27+6! I just said 28 weeks in her red book

She could sort of sit before that, but only really between my legs so if she flumped either way then i'd be there to catch her. Then on Monday, suddenly she could sit It was weird, she went from floppy relaxed sitting to proper sitting for 30 mins plus in a day lol!!

LO had the diving for the feet problem too. He finally got it around 5.5-6 months but for a long time I still kept pillows behind him. They all do it at there own pace, I wouldn't worry at all.
