How old was ur lo when u moved on to medium flow teats?

My lo is on gaviscon and my hv advised to move to fast flow teats.we got them and the whole bottle was gone in five minutes and we were left with a screaming any with tummy ache so we have bought medium flow and I'm still a little worried the milk is coming out too fast.Lola is 6wks today and the tears say for 3+ months but she is a big baby if that makes a difference xx

I moved on when my LO was about 4 months because it was obvious the first ones were too slow. 6 weeks sounds very young, maybe you should check with with your HV maybe a misunderstanding?

I double checked and she said because the gaviscon thickens the milk they need bigger teats.the last two bottles I made halfway through stopped working.Lola was sucking but nothing was coming out but I've been using gaviscon for 3 days and it's not happened before :shrugs: xx

6 weeks for us. Because she was on Gaviscon, taking ages to feed and falling asleep on the bottle then waking up with hunger. Much better on size 2s.

Sometimes you need to squige the teat with your fingers to get rid of build up and obviously make sure you give them a good wash after use.

We use tommee tippee bottles and moved onto the medium flow (size 2, 3m+) teats at 7 weeks old because she started falling asleep after a couple of oz or spitting the teat out - it would take up to an hr to get a bottle down her. Once we changed she went back to finishing a bottle in about 10-15 mins xx

Thanks Hun,I'll give the squige a go on size 1 tonight and if it doesn't come out still then I'll stick with size 2 xx

Wow maybe I should be changing to size 2 for good then coz Lola used to take 20 mins to feed but now she falls to sleep on the bottle and I really struggle to get her to wake for it and after an hour I just assume she's had enough xx

If the milk isn't flowing fast enough they can get tired from sucking so hard, or get bored and refuse it - so maybe size 2's would help?

My LO is on gaviscon and it made no difference to the speed the formula came out the teat, i change to medium flow last week so at 3months, when he started only taking 2oz's each feed and getting very fussy.

I tried changing his teats at about the same age your LO is now and had the same probably a baby that took all the milk so quickly, he ended up so full of wind, covered in milk and screaming for ages. Now he takes milk nicely, doesn't spill any and drinks each 5oz bottle.
