Can anyone share their experiences of this in a newborn please and what it meant for your LO? Jack has one and they want to do an ultrasound first thing in the morning. I can't seem to get an explanation of what it might mean or what they will be looking for can anyone help?
My friend has this when she was a baby, but it was totally fine and it closed up, she has no problems, I believe in her case they were checking for Spina bifida.
Hope he's ok at his ultra sound. I really think you need to ask them what they are looking for, they should have told you really.
Congrations on your lo! Xxx
hun its called a sacral dimple if its not too deep and you can see the end of it you will be ok , look it up on google my baby boy has one and when he was born 5 weeks ago i didnt get told that he had it until paedeatricion turned up to check him and explained that it could have been a sign of spina bifida but he is ok gave him a thorough check over and harry peed on him once he took nappy off and held him nearly upside down lol
My daughter has one. They did the ultrasound and such on it. They're just concerned cuz that's where spina bifida would show if your LO had it. But if you can't see anything, she is likely fine. I was told just to keep an eye on it as she grew, the doctor will watch it too to make sure it grows right with her and isn't causing strain or pain.
i have a sacral dimple hun and so does my LO, my sister and my mum! i had the checks when i was born for spina bifida but all was well was quite annoyed that the hospital missed the fact my daughter has one and i was the one who noticed it!
try not to worry hun, i'm sure everything will be fine xx
