Decrease in milk intake.... HELP...

Hi Ladies,

My little one is 18 weeks old tomorrow and seems to be taking a lot less milk than normal, this has been going on for 2 weeks...

Conor normally has 6 bottles of 6oz, for the past 2 weeks he's probably drinking 4oz at each feed (still only taking the 6 feeds)...

He starts fussing after about 3oz and refuses to drink anymore than the 4oz...

He's still having plenty of wet nappies, and still gaining weight well (he's 17lb already), he's not poorly and is his normal happy self except for the fussing at bottle time which he never used to do

I'm just a little concerned as 12oz seems a lot of milk to be dropping throughout the day.

Any advice or ideas as to why this could be?

Have you tried changing teat sizes?
He might be getting fed up of trying to get the milk out.

Xx

id just like to add my lo is 19wks today and doing EXACTLY the same for a week or two.

hes drooling lots, chewing the teats,so i think hes teething. Hes started waking in the nights, thats the only time he feeds well!. he was weighed today and still on 50th centile,i put this down to feeding well in the nights.

hes weening,but not on much.

since 4.30am hes had porridge and 3oz, its now 12.36pm.
hes asleep on my now so he should wake and take a better feed, but his best feeds are from 9pm -

i was going to suggest teat size too. Have you tried variflow? i dont use them myself but from what iv read from others they seem quicker? and LO can control it. Some times my lo will have days where he is less hungry but i wouldnt say it goes on for a few weeks. Hope you find a solution soon xx

Tried the variflow as well, just seems to not be interested in his milk, hes not falling asleep or anything when he drinks like he did when he was ready for the next teat up, just fussing and not wanting any more
