baby poops

Hello, my LO is 10 weeks old and since birth has only gone for a poop every couple of days sometimes 3 days, i told the midwife from day dot and she said not to worry its just her pattern and as long as its soft then shes not constipated! She never seems to struggle when she does go either, theres just alot! Last week she went 5 days and she seemed to struggle abit more ( i had tried giving her water which she drank but didnt seem to help) & again this week it is now 5 days! Ive tried giving her water last couple of days and she has been screwing her nose up at it (cute but naughty) & i am now getting worried she might go longer! I have also tried putting a little vasaline on her bum too, any suggestions? surely its not normal! ( oh & shes bottle fed)

My son used to go every 3 or 4 days for the first few months, as long as she isnt struggling to go I wouldnt worry

I wouldn't worry. My LO goes once a week (generally every 6 to 10 days). I asked the midwife as well as my pediatrician and they both said that for breastfed babies that is completely normal. They said as long as the poop isn't hard when it comes out, there is nothing to worry about. If LO hasn't gone once in more than 2 weeks, they said then they consider trying something to get the poop moving though even after 2 weeks it is still not a medical problem. Breast milk digests really well unlike all of the solids adults eat.

Nevermind! - I just reread your post and see that she is bottle fed!!!!
