I was babysitting at 12 years, so I would say it depends on the person. If she's usually immature, I'd definitely be upset. If she is usually more mature and responsible, I'd probably be okay with it.

I'd be going mental !! 12 is way way way to young!
I can't even believe your oh would think it's ok!

To make it worse is the fact that ur oh isn't picking up the phone!

can you phone anyone else hun (like your MIL) to check up on her? It's horrible sitting worrying. even get the 12year olds number and contact her yourself?

Did you sort it?

I don't think your over reacting, different people have different bounderies of what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to their child. Based on the fact she doesn't see him all that often and hasn't really expressed much interest in spending time with your LO (being too cool and all that) then I would be raging and extremely uncomfortable with the situation.

My sister is 12 and i trust her with Summer. But she is mature, street wise and our area everyone mainly knows everyone. She sees Summer everyday. I'd trust her to take her to the school park (5 mins away) and to the shops (two mins away) but no further. Just my own boundaries Hope you have a talk with your OH about how its made you feel. no mummy should be made to feel like that xx

I think he was totally irresponsible letting a 12year old child take your LO out.

I can't remember what its like being a 12 year old and how responsible you are but I think not even 2 is too young to go out with a 12 year old alone!

as someone mentioned if you lived with the girl and she was around your lo everyday she would see how lo is and be aware of the behaviours she needs to look out for (choking/climbing/running away) and i would be more comfortable, hence why SOME 12 year olds MAY be responsible enough..however i think NO 12 year old is old enough to go out with a small child. there are far too many dangers especially for a walking child!
