"Every day they take another step away from you"

Does anyone else feel like this? My mom said this and it made me choke up inside. And she's right! Every day now my little Lexi Bear is learning a new skill - how to roll, how to blow raspberries at strangers and giggle, how to balance herself up when I hold her, how to self-soothe and self-entertain and not need to be held so often.

Anyone else get a bit weepy through all this?

I'm so proud of my little munchkin face and yet, it's so bittersweet.. I just had to share because I feel like a jerk sometimes feeling this way.

Honestly no, its as shes got older than shes started wanting me more. When she was younger if she was tired or upset any familiar adult could settle her. Now if im not there she will still settle for them but if im there, its me she wants.

Same here, the last couple of months Paige has been a right mummys girl (which I like coz all the in laws kept saying she woud be a daddys girl, proved them wrong!) Lol, yeh but she is turning into a mini mummy, and I feel alot more needed by her now that she is older.

I just got choked up when I read that!!

I guess physically they are moving away, because everything new they learn gives them that little bit more independence. But then emotionally I think they move closer every day, because the more they understand, the more they'll realise that their Mummy will always be there for them.

Beautiful song and oh so true! Don't take for granted any minute with your babies, they're not babies for long! My biggest 'baby' is 15 and boy has that flown by.

My LO would rather play with his toys than have a cuddle now, I miss the newborn snuggles

Yes, I get a bit upset over it. Tabby is only 6.5 months and she's already so independent. Sometimes I love it, I really enjoy her playing independently for over an hour in the mornings, I like that I can get stuff done. At the same time, I find myself sometimes going upstairs after 1.5 hours wondering why she doesn't need me any more and trying to play with her! Its great getting some of my old life back, but I don't feel like I have a baby sometimes, more a child!

Mine is 8 m/o and getting clingier and clingier, but I know what you mean. I hug him more and more everyday because as I hold him I picture in my head him going to school, becoming a teenager, etc. It makes me cry a little but also cry from being lucky enough to love someone in such an indescribable manner. I'm so proud of him and tell him so everyday.
