Cold turkey swaddle breaking

I'm still working on this (doing one arm out, or both). So far she still will whack herself and wake if unswaddled, and thats if she even goes to sleep at all. Currently going through that 4 month sleep regression, my STTN baby has been up anywhere from 1-3x during the night. Now she can roll over in her swaddle, she can unswaddle herself (using miracle blanket, that thing is a straight jacket too!) and I am afraid she will wrap it around her face. This morning I woke and she was laying almost flat on her face. Scared the shit out of me.

My questions are:

I -need- to get rid of it. So, if you were me, would you wait out the sleep regression or just go for it now? I am expecting a week of pure hell. Hopefully only a week.

Any one else go cold turkey with the swaddle? Tell me how easy it was! Heheh =)

I was expecting hell aswell. I moved LO from swaddle to sleeping bag and he sleeps great in a sleeping bag, I need not have worried! Obviously every baby is different but we just went cold turkey. Its worth a try, you can always swwaddle again if it doesnt work out.

LO is currently sick... she kept waking for cuddles last night, so I left her unswaddled... which meant she kept waking still.

I want to lose the swaddle... we do not use it in the day for naps, but her naps are only half an hour, unless she naps with me, then they are an hour plus. I wanted to go cold turkey... jusy don't see it working. lol

Good luck!

When I moved lo into his own room I was paranoid about him being swaddled so I went cold turkey and straight into a sleeping bag and he transitioned perfectly.

How did she cope with her naps unswaddled?

xx

we went cold turkey... We would rock him to sleep with his arms pinned at his sides which helped.... it was a horrible 3 days then got a lot better.

He used to STTN though and hasn't really since we stopped the swaddle... now he's up at least 2x a night... wakes a little more often than that for his pacifier (DH does those wakeup so I don't know how often it really is). I don't think his waking habits are due to the swaddle really, its just developmentally where he's at right now.

you really need to stop swaddling immediately if she can roll thats quite dangerous!!. We went cold turkey with Jack when he unswaddled himself and got it wrapped round his neck.

We put him in a sleeping bag, and it about 4-5 nights he was fine.
