MIL's

Why do the majority of us have problems with MIL's and not our own mums. I am just trying to envisage myself 20/30 years from now - would Harry's wife be on here talking about me lol xx

Looool I can't stand annoying mils .. Mine isn't too bad however she does irritate me with her snide comments and the fact that she invited herself to the labour ward when I asked for her not to be there Oh and the fact she didnt look to bothered about the birth of my son almost like she became jealous I dnoo. My and my mum get along though x

I think it is suddenly having another adult with their own set of ideas and values, which have not being part of your upbringing unlike your own mum , and they have a perceived "stake" or "claim" in part of your life through your child. If it was not for your child they would not bother with YOU, whereas your mum is as interested in your as in your child.

Because I didn't grow up with her.
And No-one likes someone who's not your mother tell you what you should do.

And I stole her son and taught him how to cut the cord she still had him on

I consider myself lucky that my MIL doesnt come around much. Never has. But she's a drinker big time and not in the best place in life, so its best this way until she pulls it together.

AGREE..

And as I said on another thread.. I think that there are mismatched expectations. I think MILS will commonly focus on what they want and they don't take into consideration what the mother of child actually wants and that causes a lot of hurt feelings.
