Any experience? Upsetting- The 'C' Word (friends baby)

Sorry for a not very nice post, Im wondering if anyone has any experience with childhood cancer?

My friends 8 week old developed a mass a few weeks back. She was scanned as they thought it was a fatty lump but it had blood vessels in it.They referred her for an MRI but in meantime it grew and she went off her feeds,so she was back at GP'S who sent her hospital yest, they took bloods etc and said her iron is very low n she may need a transfusion, biopsy etc. Then this morn Dr said they think its Cancer and she has to go GOSH Tmw

Im hoping and praying that its not, does anyone have any experience/ Is there a chance it could be benign?? Its so cruel.

My friends little boy has been fighting it for years
He is is school now and is (touch wood) doing very well. I dont want to say he has beaten it as he still has check ups to go to. But it is an awful thing to watch a child go through. He has been through a lot and has got through a bone marrow transplant. Babies/children are a lot stronger than we think.
I sure do hope that your friends lo does not have it, but if (god forbid) she does I am sure she will put up a bloody good fight!! X

I'm sure there's a chance it is benign, hopefully that's what they'll find out!
Our family friends have a daughter who had a brain tumor as a little girl (about 4/5 years old). She went through several years of treatment and was in and out of the hospital alot. She was often not well and it was certainly very hard on the family, their younger son lived with my family at times when they were away at medical centers.
Anyway she's now about 15 years old and the tumor affected her vision but she is otherwise healthy and cancer-free.

So if your friends child does have cancer I'm sure it will be devastatingly hard on the family but hopefully they can find a successful treatment and everything will turn out alright.
But Hopefully it's the best-case scenario and it turns out to be benign after all !

How devastating for their family. Sending them LOADS of good ju ju and positive energy that it's not cancerous.

There is always a chance... no matter what the diagnosis!!! So just be there for your friend and give her all the support and love you can. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer right after the holidays... and she's had 4 treatments thus far (having her 5th one today)- and just found out yesterday that her tumor shrank by 20-25%!!!! Also, another patient at the same clinic with the same prognosis was just told he's cancer free after 12 treatments... ALSO, my cousin is cancer free after battling breast cancer and my SIL is cancer free after ovarian cancer!!!!!

I know there is nothing that can be said to make it better, IF that is the case- I truly hope it's not hun... but if so, statisctics are just that... stats... they don't mean anything when it comes to that persons specific situation... and there is ALWAYS hope... even against all odds. Big hugs
