What would you do?

My LO has a cold atm. She's had it since Friday. Sat evening she had raging temperature and was vomitting from the mucus on her belly. Since then her temperture hasn't gone below 38 degrees despite regular paracetamol and nurofen. Her nose is streaming yellow snot and she has a bit of a cough.

Yesterday she only had 2.5oz milk all day but did drink a fair bit of juice/water. Anything she ate yesterday she threw up

Today she's eaten nothing but has had 3oz milk and 7oz water/juice (since midnight).

Would you wait it out a bit longer and if no better tomorrow go to docs or make an appt for today?

Thanks for your help x

Is she peeing and pooing? If she's not having a good six or so wet nappies a day she's maybe a little dehydrated and should be seen in person sooner rather than later.

If you're not sure why not phone the GP surgery and ask for a telephone consultation. The GP can phone you back and give you a bit of advice as to whether or not they think she needs to be seen.

If you're worried always best to get her checked though!

xxoo

I would take her to the doctors.

A raised temp is a sign of infection, and as babies can't blow their noses,it can settle on the chest easily which can lead to chest infections.

My OH wouldn't let me take her to the docs, says she's got a cold and gotta ride it out....obviously he's an expert...NOT! I was not happy. He says if she's still got a temp tomorrow then we can go to the GP's.

Her temp was 40.9 this evening....I hate seeing her poorly xx

Um, forget what your OH says, 40.9 is dangerous for an adult much less a baby. You need to take her to the doctor now. I'd have taken mine to the emergency room. Vomiting is not a good sign, and you've left it for far too long. She is clearly very sick and you need to take care of it. A doctors visit is much less expensive than hospitalization, which is what will happen if its left for too long. Sorry to be harsh but your OH needs to grow up, he has a child to look out for. Good luck and I hope she is better soon!

And I realize you are in a different time zone, so I'd say if your doctor is closed or not available over the phone to tell you to take her to emergency room, just take her. You will regret not taking her and something horrible happening far more than you will regret taking her and everything being fine and having a bill to worry about.

3 days is a long time to have a temperature that high and for her to be vomiting, I think you should take her to the doctors. You asked what I would do and that is what I would do. Last my little girl vomited in the middle of the night and the next day she had a high temperature (not as high as your LO's) and I took her straight to the doctors that day. I felt like I was overeacting but the doctor reassured me it was the right thing to do. You really do need to lower that temperature so perhaps go to A & E if docs is closed. You might feel like you're making a fuss over nothing but its better to be safe than sorry.
