Older generations before we knew better.

Have you tried frozen things?
Frozen dish rags?

I, personally, would never put whiskey into my daughters mouth.

Try Anbesol. Would do the same job as Whisky but designed for teething!. Really effective stuff-much better than granules etc. We used that and Calpol. If the paracetamol one doesnt last very long try the Ibruprofen Calpol instead.

Teething is horrible Unfortunately it's one of those things that time is really the only thing that can make it go away. Whiskey is a seriously bad idea that no health professionals would advise you to do anymore.

You should be able to get anbesol from the pharmacy for free under minor ailments, at least you can at mine and that's been the most effective pain relief other than calpol. Please don't use whiskey. xx

ETA Have you tried Sophie the giraffe as well, it worked wonders :-)

Frozen dish rag? What a wonderful idea (is a dish rag a pot towel or a cloth, does it matter as long as its new?) I hope I remember that when X starts teething!

Wouldn't be okay with the whisky either. I read about some kind of tea concoction.

Basically, you make decaf tea and add some fruit juice to it. Then you dip a wash rag in it, and freeze the rag, and the baby bites on it. I guess you could probably use pedialite too (as I think you can freeze it). Then the rag would taste great to the LO, and it would be more likely to be effective!

Whiskey doesn't actually numb anything It probably made the baby a little more placid because of the alcohol.

I second ambesol. Awesome stuff.
