Sterilising is only recommended for the first 6 months anyway.

I ebf, but I do sterilise some bottles and they sit on the counter should I ever need one

Once LO is up and putting everything in their mouth I dont see the point in sterilising bottles or bowls/spoons - just wash them with your dishes in the sink

I'll be sterilising her bottles (and dummies if we end up using them) for the first few months at least, probably using the microwave or pressure cooker but after that, she's gonna put absolutely anything she gets her hands on into her mouth so I can't be sterilising the entire house. As long as she doesn't start licking shoes, the toilet bowl or the doormat, I think she'll be fine. She's not gonna catch ebola off my kitchen floor.

My mum would just dunk my bottles in boiling water for a short time to kill off the worst of the bacteria. Not really sterile but I nor my sister never got oral thrush or other nasties, so I'd say that works pretty well.

I only sterilise her bottles but other than that I'm quite lax about germs. My oh and myself had a bad case of gastroenteritis and my lo didn't catch it. Probably has a better immune system than us lol.

I sterilise Harri's bottles in the mornings and wash them with hot water in the evenings, he also has a clean dummy everyday. But through the day I don't really worry too much. If he spits his dummy on the floor I just pick it up, wipe it with a baby wipe and give it back to him (obviously I wouldn't do this of we were out shopping, but at home/visiting family I do). If everything is always bleached and/or sterilised then our LO's will never build up their immune system. I heard a saying on a tv show once and it's always stuck with me lol... "God made dirt, dirt wont hurt"! Think about how many hundreds and thousands of years people have been having babies... And in much less sanitary conditions than we live in now too! I don't see the point in being too obsessive lol.

XxX

I sterilise bottles and dummy daily, however we attend babygroup several times a week and LO is always munching on toys that god knows how many other children have previously been munching on! A few germs won't hurt!!

what is the UK recommendation for no longer steriling bottles?

I sterilize bottles and only those because of the bacteria in formula. Everything else gets washed with our washing up and toys get the occasional wipe with a baby wipe lol, I've got too much to do in the day without having to sterilize everything LO touches!
