Constant Back ache- Can epidural be the cause?

My little boy is now almost 7 months and i have been suffering with backache at the base of my spine since about 3 weeks after he was born. he was 8lb 15 oz born but i dont think carrying him around is causing this. I seem to be worse first thing in morning and as soon as i get up and walk around i feel better but by the night its back again. Anyone else had similar prob? Just wondered if you have, did you have an epidural too or perhaps this could just be my bodys way of righting itself after all the growing pains of pregnancy??

Base of your spine it's more likely to have been the pregnancy and/or birth itself hun epidural is further up, do you have an osteopath near you? In my experience the NHS are crap, will fob you off with painkillers, you could try and get an x-ray though to rule out anything but it's much more likely to be muscular or neurological, an osteopath, or a chiropractor are probably your best bet xx

i had a spinal for my caesarean and i have shocking back ache right in the center of my back every time i stand, bend or even sit weird, i blame the needle but im not sure there is anything anyone can do. if yours is in your lower back, a chiropractor could help.

I havent had back ache, but the bottom of my spine is still numb... even if i touch the bottom of my spine, i cant feel my fingers touching it.. its weird, but i can live with it.
It might be best if you speak to your GP and insist you get it checked over.

I think it's from feeding LO all the time. I don't know about you but I sorta hunch over a little when he eats. That causes massive back pains for me. Also from carrying him around all the time!!

Yes mine is right in the middle at the bottom of my back, first couple of weeks i was ok but after that its pretty much every day, i think changing him on the bed doesnt help cos that makes me hunch over too (dont have one of those drawers with changing facility on the top). I even thought our bed was giving me back ache so i made other half let me get a new bed, needless to say the next day i was still in pain (he want too impressed - oops). Think it may be a trip to chiropractionist for me! x

epidurals and spinals cannot cause back problems, it is your posture and post-baby excercies and recovery that causes back problems.

it was written on that content from you legally have to read and sign before getting one

My back has been effed since I gave birth but not from the epi. I had sciatica when I was pregnant and it seems I'm still dealing with an irritated/pinched nerve. I'm hoping as I continue to take the baby weight off and keep stretching it out, it will resolve itself. I've never had back issues before but now my lower back is so achey, I wake up in the middle of the night with it. Also I get shooting pains down my leg to the back of my knee. fun times lol

I've been getting this also. I had my DS 4 weeks ago and he did weigh a hefty 9lb 10 but dont think its the pregnancy that's caused it. If I do lots of lifting or house work which puts strain on my back it gets really sore. Never had it before and it's located exactly where the epi was placed. My friend had hers 10 years ago and still suffers with back problems from her epi.

X
