How long is too long for a cold? *UPDATED*

My daughter is 24 weeks old and has had a cold for 3 weeks now. Last week I took her to the doctors and she said she suspected RSV( a common virus in children under 2) but that it seemed to be almost over. Well a week later she is still sick and now has a nasty cough at night. Last night she coughed so hard her lips turned a little blue but turned back to normal as soon as she was done coughing. I have called the doctors office and they said not to worry colds can last a long time in babies but 3 weeks seems really long to me.I already do saline drops, suction, elevated head, humidifier, baby vicks ect..

I'm surprised with her history with RSV that she's not on medication for the cough or that they're aren't keeping a closer watch on her. My daughter was hospitalized with RSV last month (she was 6 mos old at the time) and is still on the nebulizer because the cough keeps coming back and lingering.

They didn't want to see her in the office?

No they said they couldnt fit her in until next week that they were booked solid. I'm thinking of taking her to a walk in today but im worried they wont be efficient enough since they arent pediatricians.

It probably wouldn't hurt to take her. A week is a long time to wait especially with a cough that bad.

Well I brought her in to the walk in docotrs and the doctor took a listen to her chest and said she has Broncholitis( swelling of the airways) caused by RSV and she is now on a 4 day course of liquid steriod treatment 2 times a day. Glad I went in. Also if she's not better by friday I have to bring her abck and they will do an X ray.

I'm glad you took her in. My son had bronchiolitus a few times as a baby and had to go on breathing treatments several times. Hope she feels better soon!

They're both absolutely adorable, by the way!
