Tax cred and smp?

Hi

I was wondering whether anyone knows what the situation is with tax creds whilst on smp?

I know on my actual salary and ohs salary we earn above the threshold but as il only take 3m pay and everything as smp - does anyone know wether I am entitled to it whilst off?

I am not sure, but it can't harm to put a claim in...the most they can say is "no you earn too much" but do it sooner rather than later as until the 5th April you get back paid 3 months after 5th April it is only 1 month

I had my LO in December so we have ended up qualifying for a couple of months. Because they originally base it on your P60 figures for 2010/2011 we were over the threshold by about £1k but I was in a different job that that paid bonuses and I wasn't on maternity leave. The advisor told me to work out what I approx thought I would take home in tax year 2011/2012 and they would then reassess based on that figure. While on SMP you don't count the first £100 for tax credit purposes so when working out your income you would just include £28 rather than £128, hope this isn't confusing you?!
We ended up getting £43 in March and will get the same in April, they backdated our claim but are keeping £95 just in case our actual P60 figures are higher than I told them! If it's not then we get the additional £95. I've also had a letter advising that as the threshold is reducing to £26k we won't be entitled to anything from April xxx

I have spoken to Tax creds this morning about ours as we had a letter saying we wouldnt be entitled after April. They had this based on last years pay and ive been on mat pay for the last 9months so i assumed it would change. Ive updated them with my earnings so far this tax year and my husbands and they are going to reassess us and let us know in writing. Could be worth giving them a call to check?
