Tax credits are stupidly complicated. Best advice is whatever your circumstances, apply and see what happens.

Celesse - exactly that's what I said in a PP at the end of the day, time's running out and the most they can say is "sorry you're not eligible"

I havent even rung them to sort mine out yet as Im totally confused as to what to apply for, and I dont have the exact amount of income from apr 2010 to apr 2011 only an estimate...would they accept an estimate? I also heard something about a child element, do I have to apply separately? Im so confused and keep putting it off but I really should ring them...any advice would be appreciated

Just call them and start the application, they will tell you what else they need. All elements of both child and working tax credits are applied for via the same number.

you can use an estimate... they will chek it against your NI number anyway just try and get the estimate as close as poss because you could end up owing them money x
